OPERATION
CHRISTMAS CHILD
Our Sunday school is
doing a special “hands-on” mission project this fall. We are filling shoe boxes
for Operation Christmas Child. Each year, Operation Christmas Child delivers
millions of gift-filled shoe boxes around the world to boys and girls who are
suffering because of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect. The
children who receive the boxes also learn about God’s greatest gift, His Son,
Jesus.
We are hoping that all
of our students can participate in this mission work in some manner. Here are
some of the ways that each student could participate:
*Pray for the mission and for the kids who will
receive the shoe boxes.
*Bring in empty shoe boxes.
*Bring in Christmas wrapping paper.
*Take home some of the shoe boxes and wrap and
return them.
*Bring in the unopened little bars of soap that
hotels leave in rooms.
*Bring an inexpensive gift(s) that could fit in
a shoe box.
*Help to pack the boxes on Sunday, Nov. 5th
(if in grades 5-12)
*Donate money for shipping. ($7.00 is needed
per box. Checks can be made out to
Samaritan’s Purse, while cash can be directed
to Patti Baals.
*Encourage friends and relatives, or other
groups to participate with us. (Adults
could encourage members of their clubs,
organizations, or workplaces to make
Operation Christmas Child their mission
project too!)
Please leave all
donations in the fellowship hall on the designated table, under the Operation
Christmas Child poster before Sunday, November 5th. For more
information, contact Patti Baals (833-3319).
